Kuska Biryani | Plain Biryani | Lunch Recipe

Main Course: Rice variety| Kuska Biryani (Veg)

Kuska is a plain Biryani which is infused with Indian flavours and spices. This is a quick biryani you can make it for lunch or party time or at occasion, basically it’s plain right, so it goes well with any Indian gravy curry ๐Ÿ›ย or you can serve it withย Onion Salanย or mild sour and sweetย Cucumber ๐Ÿฅ’ Raita.

Let’s start with Ingredients and follows Procedure

Ingredients:

  • Basmati Rice – Long grain rice – 200 grams
  • Onion – 1 medium – sliced
  • Tomatoes – 2 medium – chopped
  • Mint leaves – 20
  • Coriander leaves – 1/2 cup – chopped
  • Oil – 1 tb sp
  • Ghee – 1 tb sp
  • Red chilly powder – 1 tsp
  • Salt – 1 1/2 tsp
  • Garam Masala Powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Cloves – 2
  • Cinnamon – 2 small sticks
  • Green Cardamom – 2
  • Star anise – 2
  • Bay leaves – 2
  • Ginger-garlic Paste – 1/2 tb sp
  • Green chillies paste – 1/2 tb sp
  • Water – 400 ml

Procedure:

  • Heat tawa over medium to high heat
  • Add oil & ghee
  • Add cloves, cinnamon, Cardamom, Bay leaves, green chillies paste and onion
  • Saute 2 minutes and add ginger-garlic paste
  • Mix well and add tomatoes
  • Saute a minute and cover with lid and cook 3 minutes
  • Next add salt, turmeric powder, red chilly powder and Garam masala powder.. Mix well
  • Saute 1 minute and add water
  • Cover with lid … let water boil
  • Add rice, gently mix and close with lid
  • Cook 12-15 mins
  • Turn off heat and serve hot with any gravy curry

Note:

  • Adjust spices according to taste
  • If you’re in diet skip oil and use ghee
  • I cooked Biryani in non-stick deep fry pan, if you wish to make in pressure cook, it’s yes you can do for one whistle ๐Ÿ™‚
  • If you doesn’t like plain Biryani, you can add small amount of peas and carrot.. it’s completely optional

    good share Ramya! This is a great combination with any gravy as you say. I sometimes make jeera pulav with cumin and pepper as the main ingredient and it goes well with any gravy.

  5. I made your biryani last night and it turned out awesome! Only addition I made is adding 1 Japanese eggplant to the rice; Other than that I followed your instructions and the biryani was delicious ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ‘Œ
