Tomato Pachadi / Chutney

Tomato pachadi is a delicious side dish that accompanied with idli/dosa and rice. This lip-smacking chutney tastes like sweet, sour and yummy πŸ™‚ It super simple to make and I am sure you’ll definitely love it. Do try this new recipe and serve with your favorite idli/dosa/rice.

Let’s start with ingredients and follows the procedure

Ingredients:

  • Red Tomatoes – 500 grams
  • Garlic – 3 cloves – chopped ( peeled off )
  • Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds — 1 tsp
  • Urad dal – 1/2 tbsp
  • Chana dal – 1/2 tbsp
  • Curry leaves – 8
  • Coconut oil – 2 tbsp ( Instead, You can use any cooking oil )
  • Salt – 3/4 tsp
  • Red chili powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Jaggery – 1-inch piece or 1 tbsp powder
  • Tamarind water – 1/2 tbsp

Procedure:

  • On a medium heated pan, add oil, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal, and chana dal and saute a minute
  • Then add chopped garlic cloves and saute, next add curry leaves
  • Saute and then add chopped tomatoes
  • Saute and cook for 10 mins or till tomatoes become mushy and soft
  • Next add salt, red chilly powder, turmeric powder, jaggery, and tamarind water
  • Mix well and cook more 10 mins or till the consistency reduces in quantity
  • Now, pachadi cooked well. Turn off heat and serve with idli / dosaΒ  or with rice
