Side Dish: Cabbage Stir Fry

Any Indian meal contains Dal, curry, rice, roti, and curd it’s so authentic and traditional to have a meal with different kinds of curries. Stir fry or poriyal is a side dish and it’s made often in our daily lunch or dinner meals.

Today, I prepared cabbage stir fry which has great texture and taste. It’s a super simple dish and anyone can cook πŸ™‚

Let’s start with Ingredients and follows the procedure

Ingredients:

  • Cabbage – 1/2 – 500 gms – finely chopped
  • Green chilies – 3 – slits
  • Fresh coconut – 1/2 cup
  • Salt – 1 tsp
  • Coconut oil  – 2 tbsp – Room temperature
  • Split yellow gram / Moong Dal – 1 tbsp – soaked – 20 mins
  • Coriander leaves – 1/2 cup – chopped – Garnish
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp

For Tempering:

  • Mustard seeds/ Avvalu – 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds/ Jeera – 1 tsp
  • Urad dal/ Minapappu – 1 tbsp
  • Bengal gram/ Senagapappu – 1 tbsp
  • Curry leaves – 8

Procedure:

Pre-Preparation:Β 

Moong Dal:Β 

  • Add 1 tbsp Moong dal in a bowl
  • Wash twice and strain water
  • Add freshwater ( 100 ml ) and soak moong Dal for about 20 mins
  • Keep it aside

Process of Cabbage Stir Fry:

  • Heat skillet pan over medium heat
  • Add oil,Β tempering, curry leaves, and green chilies
  • Saute 30 secs and add chopped cabbage
  • Saute few mins and add salt and turmeric powder
  • cover it with a lid and cook 2 mins
  • Next, add soaked moong Dal along with water, mix well and close with a lid
  • Cook more 2 mins and turn off the heat
  • Finally, add coriander leaves, mix well and cover with a lid and leaves 2 mins.
  • Next, serve it with Roti/ Rice
