Onion Bonda || Instant || Tea-Time/ Evening Snack || Winter Treat ❄️

Evening/ Tea time snack : Onion Bonda : South India

Servings: 25 Bonda’s ( mini )

Duration: 15 mins

Most of the people like to have a cup of tea with snacks and it should be fried. Kids and adults love to have tasty and crispy snacks everyday or weekly once at home/ outside.

So today I thought of making simple and easy snack recipe is Onion Bonda. It is deep fried in oil which contains Bengal gram flour, onions, green chillies paste and salt, mix well together and fry in oil. Ready to serve, see such a simple and handy ingredients at home.

Sometimes it best to make simple snacks at home, it’s worth and hygiene too. Onion Bonda goes well with Sambar rice, Dal rice, Bottle Gourd curry with yogurt which i posted yesterday.

Today, I prepared Onion Bonda with spices and flour which turned out super yummy 😋

Let’s start with ingredients and follows Procedure

Ingredients:

  • Besan Flour – 200 gms
  • Rice Flour – 60 gms
  • White Onions – 2 – medium – Finely/ roughly chopped
  • Green chillies – 5 – blend into smooth paste
  • Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Baking soda – 1/4 tsp
  • Salt – 1 tsp
  • Coriander leaves – chopped – 1/2 cup
  • Water – 1/4 cup
  • Oil – to deep fry

Procedure:

  • Take a mixing bowl
  • Add besan flour, rice flour, turmeric powder, salt, baking soda, onions, coriander leaves
  • Mix well
  • Meanwhile, heat oil over medium heat to deep fry
  • Add water in bowl and mix well
  • Drop a small ball of dough to check oil is hot or not.
  • If the dough floats in oil and color changes to golden brown means oil is hot
  • Now carefully drop small amount of dough in oil to fry
  • Slightly move onion bonda with ladle
  • Take out them on a paper towel when they turned out golden brown and crisp
  • Onion bonda is ready
  • Serve hot at evening/ winter season ❄️
  • Happy Cooking and enjoy your day 🙂

Note:

  • Adjust spices according to taste
  • Double the ingredients to increase the quantity
  • Serve Onion bonda with mint chutney/ sweet chutney / tomato sauce. You can checkout mint & sweet chutneys I shared in previous post
  • Baking soda added to make bonda crispy and soft. If you don’t like to add baking soda you can avoid and  add 1 tb sp of roasted peanuts powder
