Snack recipe: Potato Bajji

Have you been ever tried potato bajji or potato fritters at home πŸ™‚ If not, try these scrumptious evening snacks or you can pair it with sambar, rasam or pulihora rice. I know 90% of the population loves potatoes πŸ˜‰ so you will definitely like this potato bajji as well. When the season changes at this time weather call you to make these fried snacks, this recipe is super simple to make. Let’s start with Ingredients and follows the procedure

Ingredients:

  • Potato ( Gold or Red ) – 1 – sliced round
  • Besan or chickpea flour – 1 cup – 240 grams
  • Rice flour – 2 tbsp
  • Carom seeds or ajwain seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Red chilly powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Salt – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Baking soda – 1/ 8 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon
  • Water – as required to make the batter
  • Oil – to deep fry

Procedure:

  • In a deep bowl, add besan, rice flour, red chilly powder, turmeric powder, salt, baking soda, ajwain seeds and mix well
  • Then add water as required to make the batter, it should be semi-thick consistency
  • Heat oil to deep fry, dip chopped potato slices in besan batter and gently drop in oil, each at a time.
  • Fry till the bajji’s become golden brown as shown in the picture πŸ™‚
  • Repeat the process till the potato slices complete, enjoy your day and happy cooking πŸ™‚
  • Serve with tomato ketchup or topped with chaat masala powder
