A fulfilling, healthy and delicious sorghum flour rotiβs can made instantly with freshly chopped veggies and grated bottle Gourd. Both accompanied very well and enriched the dish, I have also added Ajwain, cumin and sesame seeds to enhance the flavor in roti. Letβs start with Ingredients and follows Procedure
Duration: 30 minutesΒ
Ingredients:
- Jowar flour / sorghum flour – 240 grams
- Hot Water ( Boiled) – 1/2 cup – 120 ml
- Salt – 3/4 teaspoon
- Green chillies – 4 – finely chopped
- Ajwain / vaamu – 1/4 teaspoon
- Cumin/ Jeera seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
- Sesame seeds ( White ) – 1 teaspoon
- Cilantro – 1/4 cup chopped
- Carrot – grated – 1/4 cup
- Bottled Gourd- Peeled off & grated – 1/2 cup
- White onion – chopped – 1/3 cup
- Coconut oil – To cook rotiβs – 1 tb sp
Procedure:
- In a wide bowl add flour, chopped & grated veggies , chillies, salt, cumin, Ajwain, sesame seeds
- First, dry mix all ingredients and then add water then mix with a spoon or spatula because we are using hot water
- Form a dough and divide it into 6 equal portions
- Heat a tava on medium heat and make roti by applying oil on butter paper or on paper banana leaf
- Tap the dough on sheet, make into round by dipping fingers in water( as shown in below pictures)
- Add oil on tava and flip the sheet on it, let it sit for about half minute and gently remove sheet on tava, repeat the process to make other rotiβs
- Cook both sides by adding oil and till you see brown spots on it
- It pairs with raw onion or pickle or curd and cucumber
