Original Hummus 😍| Dip | Vegan 🌱 | Gluten-free

Dip recipe: HummusΒ 

Yields: 500 gramsΒ

Hummus is a dip or spread made out of cooked chickpeas along with tahini sauce, olive oil, garlic, salt and few add ons. It’s rich in texture, tastes great and loaded high protein. Hummus can be served in many ways, mainly it is filled in pita bread along with falafel πŸ₯™, veggies, onion orΒ you can also spread on tortillas, roti, on toasted bread along with stir fried veggies and you can dip raw carrots sticks, cucumber, celery and tortilla chips. Easily made at home or it’s available in stores, One of the main ingredient is tahini, prepared with sesame seeds I will share the homemade version soon in my blog πŸ˜ƒ

Usually, most of the people use canned chickpeas (cooked) but I have used fresh chickpeas, soaked overnight and pressure cooked . If you would like to make in minutes I would suggest you can use canned chickpeas or else you can follow my process. This is one of the popular dip around globe 🌎 originated from Middle East and Mediterranean and I hope you like it.

Let’s start with Ingredients and follows Procedure

Ingredients:

  • Chickpeas / senagalu – 200 gms – Soaked & cooked
  • Tahini sauce – 1 Tb sp
  • Olive oil – 1 Tb sp
  • Garlic clove – 1 – Peeled off and finely chopped
  • Cumin powder – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt – 1 1/2 teaspoon
  • Lemon juice – 1 Tb sp

Procedure:

  • Wash raw chickpeas twice under running water or in a bowl of water
  • Add one liter of water in the bowl of chickpeas and soak overnight or upto 8 hours
  • Next add soaked chickpeas, 1 teaspoon salt in pressure cooker and cook for 2 whistles on medium heat
  • Turn off heat and let the pressure goes down and keep aside
  • Let them cool down and add in blender/ food processor along with tahini sauce, 1/2 teaspoon salt, cumin powder, garlic, olive oil and lemon juice
  • Make smooth paste or adjust consistency by adding little water ( 3 tb sp)
  • Take out in a serving bowl, make a round with the help of back of the spoon and add olive oil, red Paprika and cilantro or dill ( to garnish)
