Sanna Karapusa| Snack

Snack recipe: Sanna Karapusa / Senagapindi karallu

Sanna Karapusa is a traditional south Indian snack recipe, it’s so easy to make and nice to munch on at any time and also you can pack this snack in the lunch box as a side dish pairs well with dal rice, sambar rice, and rasam rice as well or you can eat as is. One of my most favorite childhood snacks is sanna karapusa

I wish you could try this simplest snack recipe and enjoy any time!

Let’s start with ingredients and follows the procedure

Ingredients:

1 cup = 160 gms

  • Besan flour /Β  Chickpea flour – 2 cups
  • Rice flour – 1/2 cup
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red chilly powder – 1 1/2 teaspoons
  • Salt – 1 1/2 teaspoons
  • Baking soda – 1/8 teaspoon
  • Oil – to deep fry
  • Water – as required – to make the dough
  • Chakli maker and small holes round jali – to make karapusa

Procedure:Β 

  • Take a big deep bowl, add in besan flour, rice flour, salt, red chilly powder, turmeric powder, baking soda and mix well
  • Make a thick dough by adding water little by little ( the dough should be soft and not runny, can verify the photo below)
  • Now, take chakli maker then apply little oil in it and put the dough in it
  • Next spread karapusa in oil by rotating chakli maker and make sure the oil should be on medium-high heat not smoking hot. ( do this process if only you are aware and have practice making karapusa otherwise you should take help from others)
  • It won’t take so much time to fry because these are very thin and light
  • Try to takeout them when the bubbling stops or you can see the color changes to a light golden brown, to remove excess oil take them on kitchen tissues
  • Repeat the process till the dough completes
  • very simple and traditional south Indian snack is ready to serve
