Snake Gourd Fries | Potlakaya Bajji 😍

Whoever looks this recipe I’m sure you will definitely thought of onion rings because they almost looks similar but absolutely they’re not Β πŸ™‚ This quick snack is made out of Snake Gourd we call it as β€˜Potlakaya’ they’re super delicious, yummy and perfect for any evening snack or you can serve to your guests it’s easy to make and finishes in few minutes.

Ingredients:

  • Snake Gourd/ Potlakaya – 1 – chopped in circles and remove seeds (as shown in picture)
  • Oil – to deep fry

For Batter: 1 cup = 160 grams

  • Chickpea / Besan flour – 1 cup
  • Rice flour – 1/4 cup
  • Salt – 1 teaspoon
  • Red chilly powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Baking soda – 1/8 teaspoon
  • Turmeric Powder – 1/4 teaspoon
  • Ajwain / Carom seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Water – as required ( make semi thick consistency)

Procedure:

  • Add in all dry ingredients in a deep mixing bowl, combine well
  • Prepare batter by adding water and make sure the batter should not in running consistency and also it is neither be too thin nor thick
  • Keep batter aside and chop Snake Gourd into round shape ( thickness should be less than half inch ) and remove seeds
  • Dip chopped pieces in the batter and drop one by one in piping hot oil
  • Fry them till the color changes to golden brown and take out them on kitchen tissues to remove excess oil
  • Serve hot with tomato ketchup or you can follow my method, I served with thinly sliced white onion and sprinkled withΒ Frankie Masala Powder | HomemadeΒ and lemon πŸ‹Β  juice πŸ˜‹ wow such a lovely combination, yummy 🀀
