Sambar Powder πŸ˜ƒ| Mom’s Recipe πŸ’—

Podi recipe: Sambar Podi / Powder 

Yields: 400 gms 

Duration : 10 minutes 

Sambar Powder is an authentic South Indian recipe which is made out of common Indian spices using in our daily lives πŸ‘ˆ They are dry roasted then grounded in mixer or by using pestle and mortar πŸ™‚ you can feel the pungent flavor of  Sambar Powder in kitchen at home 🏑

I love to make these kind of indian spice powders at home than store bought ones because it’s healthy, hygiene and makes you happy while preparing it by yourself  πŸ˜ƒ If anyone of you got bore of regular Sambar Powder do try this recipe, I’m sure you will love it and also definitely you will receive best compliments from your family members or relatives or friends.

It’s a delicious spice mix used to make lentils vegetable soup or we call it as β€œSambar”. It won’t take so much time to prepare you can make it in jiffy and also soon I will share my Sambar recipe in upcoming posts.

Let’s start with Ingredients and Procedure

Ingredients: 1 cup = 160 grams

  • Coriander seeds – 2 cups
  • Desiccated coconut πŸ₯₯ – 1 cup ( or Dried coconut pieces- 1/2 cup )
  • Cumin seeds – 1/2 cup
  • Kashmiri dry Red chillies – 30
  • Red chilly Powder – 1/2 Tb sp ( you can skip it if you’re using regular dry Red chillies)
  • Fenugreek seeds – 1 Tb sp
  • Black Pepper corns – 1 Tb sp

Procedure:

  • On medium heated pan add in coriander seeds, cumin seeds, Kashmiri dry Red chillies, Fenugreek seeds and black pepper corns
  • Dry roast for 5-7 minutes or till the color changes and also you can essence the aromatic flavor
  • Then add desiccated coconut πŸ₯₯, sautΓ© a minute and turn off heat
  • After that, add in red chilly powder and combine well
  • Let the mixture becomes cool
  • Finally, ground the mixture into coarse powder in batches wise and then transfer to a plate
  • Mix well and make sure everything combined, store in an airtight container to remain fresh 😍
