Perugu Vada 😍 | Yummy yogurt savory doughnuts

Perugu Vada Recipe : South Indian Dish

Servings: 15 Vada’s

Indian snack recipe perugu vada is made with Skinless black lentils soaked for 6 hours, grounded into smooth paste and make round shaped vadas looks like savory doughnuts 🍩 deep fry them. These hot fried vadas are soaked in fresh yogurt mixture combined with tempering, onion, cilantro and few add ons. This is most favorite snack in South Indian recipes, you must try this scrumptious food and enjoy the taste 😍

Duration: 6 hours soaking time + half an hour ( soaked in yogurt)

Let’s start with ingredients and follows Procedure


  • Prepare Urad dal vada (Click for recipe)
  • Curd/ yogurt – 1/2 liter
  • Onion – finely chopped
  • Curry leaves – 15 – chopped
  • Mustard seeds – 1/4 teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Dry Red chillies – 2
  • Salt – 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon
  • Oil – 1/2 Tb sp
  • Coriander leaves – 1/2 cup – chopped


  • Heat pan add oil, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, dry Red chillies. SautΓ© one minute
  • Add chopped onion and sautΓ© 2 minutes
  • Then add salt and turmeric powder, sautΓ© one more minute
  • Turn off heat
  • Take a deep bowl, add curd, onion mixture and chopped coriander leaves
  • Mix well and adjust consistency by adding water
  • Add fried vadas in curd mixture and coated the vadas with curd mixture.
  • Let them soak for half an hour and serve 😍 enjoy weekend
