South Indian Breakfast Recipe : Brown Rice Masala Dosa

Are you bored of eating regular dosa, try this new healthier dosa made with brown rice and other ingredients π These dosaβs make your stomach full and say βnoβ craving snack at brunch time.
One batter can make multiple dosa varieties. You can make all dosa varieties with this batter such as plain Dosa, Karam dosa, Masala Dosa, Podi dosa, ghee Podi Masala Dosa, Uttapam and more π itβs works same as regular batter.
Easy, delicious and gives lovely brown color output. I hope you could try this new recipe βbrown rice dosa batterβ
Today, I shared brown rice Dosa batter itβs masala dosa and uttapam topped with onion,carrot, Capsicum. Chutney Recipes, Dosa Recipes links are shared at the end of this post π
Letβs start with Ingredients and Procedure
Ingredients: ( Brown Rice Dosa Batter )
1 cup = 160 ml
- Brown Rice – 2 cups
- Regular rice – 1 cup
- Skinless Split black lentils/ urad dal – 1 cup
- Sabudana/ tapioca pearls – 1/2 cup
- Methi/ fenugreek seeds – 1 tsp
- Puffed rice – 2 cups – (soaked in water for 10 mins and wash twice)
- Salt – 3 tsp
- Baking soda – 1/4 tsp
Procedure:
Brown rice Dosa batter:
- Add brown rice, regular rice, urad dal, Sabudana, Methi seeds in a large mixing bowl
- Wash two to three times under running water
- Drain water and add fresh water in it, let them soak for 7 hours
- Each grain soaked perfectly, drain water
- Now add soaked Puffed rice in mixing bowl and combine everything
- Next grind them to a fine paste,Β You can use grinder or mixer to make batter. Add water in portions to make smooth Dosa batter
- Takeout batter in a large pot, add salt and baking soda. Mix well
- Let the batter rest for 12-15 hours (it varies depends on weather conditions). Keep it in a warm place
- Batter raised, fermented well and make dosaβs as shown below in pictures or follow below steps
Brown rice Masala Dosa:
- Heat Dosa pan over medium heat
- Sprinkle water and wipe off with paper towel
- Now, Pour one ladle Dosa batter and rotate circular shape at the center with the help of ladle
- Apply oil or ghee
- Turn Dosa when it turns light brown, cook other side as well
- SpreadΒ Potato π₯ Masala/ Aloo MasalaΒ and close Dosa like a half moon πΒ ( as shown in picture)
- Repeat the same process and make as many dosaβs as you like to have.
- Serve masala dosa withΒ Fresh coconut π₯₯ Chutney
