Kathi Roll is also known as โ€˜Kati Rollโ€™ a famous Indian street food originated from Kolkata, India ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ

It is mostly wrapped with paratha filled any vegetable curry, paneer tikka masala, potato, ย kebabs and some other varieties. So easy to carry and munch on anytime but itโ€™s preferred as breakfast ๐Ÿ˜Š

Today, I prepared Tofu Kathi Roll in an epic way Iโ€™m not big fan of tofu but still if i can eat paneer why canโ€™t I try tofu instead of paneer. So I tried it with this delicious Kathi Roll turned out so yummy and tastes same as paneer tikka Kathi Roll, tofu contains Soya protein and this is best recipe for โ€˜veganโ€™. You can skip butter in tofu masala and replace it with coconut oil.

  • Tofu is a good source of protein and contains all nine essential amino acids.
  • It is also an excellent source of iron and calcium and the minerals manganese, selenium and phosphorous.
  • Tofu is a good source of magnesium, copper, zinc and vitamin B1.

Letโ€™s start with Ingredients and follows Procedure

Ingredients:

Tofu Masala:

  • Tofu – 250 gms – Chopped and stir fried
  • Onion – 1 medium sized – puree
  • Tomatoes – 2 medium sized – puree
  • Red chilly Powder – 1 tsp
  • Red paprika – 1 tsp
  • Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Salt – 1 tsp
  • Garam Masala Powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Cashew Nuts – 8 – Paste – 2 Tb sp ( soak 10 mins & grind into fine paste)
  • Butter – 1 Tb sp

Tofu Kathi Roll:

  • Tofu Masala – 1 cup
  • Chapathi ย – 4 ( click for recipe)
  • Frankie Masala Powder ( click for recipe) – 1 Tb sp
  • White onion – finely chopped
  • Lemon juice – 1 Tb sp

Procedure:

Tofu Masala Process:

  • First, Stir Fry Chopped Tofu on medium heatย by adding oil in a pan for 2 minutes each side
  • Fry till golden brown and take out in a bowl
  • Heat skillet pan over medium heat Add butter, let it melt
  • Then Add grounded onion, sautรฉ 3 minutes
  • Next add salt, turmeric, red chilly powder and Garam masala powder. Sautรฉ few seconds
  • Follows tomato purรฉe, sautรฉ 5 minutes and then add cashew nut paste along with paprika
  • Combine well and add fried tofu. Gently mix, make sure each tofu coated with prepared masala
  • Saute a minute and turn off heat
  • Keep it aside

Process of Tofu Kathi Roll:

  • Take a plate, keep Chapathi on it and sprinkle Frankie Masala Powder and onion
  • Next, Spread Tofu Masala and lemon juice
  • Roll it tight and wrap with butter paper or aluminum foil
  • Tofu Kathi Roll is ready to serve
