Pulav Recipe: Radish Pulav

Pulao is a main dish usually prepared with rice, spices, vegetables, onion depending on cuisine. It can be prepared either with normal rice or basmati rice.

I cooked pulao with Basmati Rice you can also cook with normal rice which is crystal sona masoori rice brand or any other brand as you w ish to have. In this Pulao main ingredient is Radish, they are high in nutrients and vitamins. I also added cashew nuts with spices gives you great flavour and good aroma πŸƒ

Mainly, Pulao is mild spicy in taste & very delicious dish in India which can have either in lunch/ dinner and you can make this Pulao in less time… it is a quick lunch box pack or make on festivals

Today I prepared Radish Carrot πŸ₯•Β PeasΒ Pulao it turned out scrumptious food and best to try a new dish.

Let’s start with Ingredients and follows Procedure

Ingredients:

  • Basmati Rice 🍚 – long grain rice – 1 cup – 240 gms
  • White radish – Grated – 1 cup
  • Carrot – 1 cup
  • Green peas – 1/3 cup
  • White onion – sliced
  • Mint leaves – 20 – chopped
  • Coriander leaves – handful – chopped
  • Cashew Nuts – 12 pieces
  • Cloves – 2
  • Cinnamon stick – 1 inch piece
  • Green Cardamom – 2
  • Bay leaf – 1
  • Mace – small piece
  • Star anise – 1/2 piece
  • Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
  • Ginger garlic paste – 1/2 Tb sp
  • Green chillies – 4 – slits
  • Salt – 1/2 Tb sp
  • Cumin Powder – 1 tsp
  • Garam Masala Powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Coconut oil – 1 Tb sp ( you can use any cooking oil or butter)
  • Water – 480 ml

Procedure:

  • Wash basmati rice twice under running water and drain, keep it aside
  • Take a heavy bottomed pan or nonstick pan and put on over medium heat
  • Add cashew nuts, cumin seeds, cloves, Cardamom, cinnamon, bay leaf, Star anise and mace
  • Saute 1/2 minute, add green chillies and ginger garlic paste
  • Mix well and add sliced onions, sautΓ© 2 minutes
  • Then Add grated radish and cook 5 minutes and then add spices such as salt, turmeric powder, cumin powder and garam masala powder along with green peas
  • Saute 30 secs and add chopped mint, cilantro and grated carrot
  • Combine well and add water, let water boil and add basmati rice
  • Gently mix and cook 10 minutes over medium heat and 10 mins on simmer. SautΓ© nicely in between 5 minutes
  • Turn off heat and make sure rice cooked well
  • Serve with Raita and crunchy potatoes πŸ₯”Β chips
