South Indian Breakfast: Pullattu

An authentic recipe, sour in taste yet delicious crepe presenting from South Indian cuisine. Itβs tasty, delicate and if you count on eating how many curd dosa but still you feel your stomach is empty. Because theyβre so yummy and no need to count and eat, here is my formula: eat as many as you can βΊοΈ
Letβs start with Ingredients and follows Procedure
Ingredients:
- Rice – Regular variety – 1 cup – 240 gms
- Curd/ Sour Cream/ yogurt- 2 cups ( divided)
- Water in curd – 1/2 cup
- Fenugreek seeds / Methi seeds – 1 tsp
- Salt – 1 tsp
- Oil – 2 Tb sp ( to cook dosa )
Procedure:
- In a mixing bowl add 1 cup of raw rice, wash twice with fresh water and strain by using colander
- In the same bowl add 1 cup curd , 1/2 cup of water in curd & Methi seeds
- Mix well, Close with lid and let it soak for 5 hours
- After that blend them into smooth paste without adding water
- Take out the batter in the same bowl add one more cup of fresh curd (donβt whisk) gently mix in batter
- Close with lid & let it ferment for 8-10 hours
- After fermentation Add salt & mix well
- Batter is ready
- Heat tava over medium heat, sprinkle water to check tava is hot or not
- Wipe off with paper towel or onion
- Pour one laddle batter and spread in circular motion
- Apply oil & cover with lid
- Let it cook & flip when it turns golden brown
- Cook the other side as well & serve immediately
- You can serve with any spicy chutney or powder

The dosa looks delicious, never heard of this type before. We make a sweet & slightly sour version using rice grains, lil flattened rice, curds, jaggery and watermelon rind.
