Starter recipe: Soya Chunks Manchurian

Manchurian is everyoneโ€™s favorite starter in India ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณย and itโ€™s โ€˜Trending dishโ€™. Iย just wonder how Soya Chunks Manchurian Gravy turned out So yummy ๐Ÿ˜‹ย . It is a quick recipe with handy ingredients and each Soya Chunks nicely coated with all sauces & onion-bell pepper gravy which is a perfect vegetarian appetizer and indo-Chinese cuisine.

This is similar process ofย Gobi Manchurianย but I made little changes to make it more healthier. I hope you like it ๐Ÿ˜€

Health Benefits of Soya Chunks:

  • Soya Chunks contain 54.2 grams of protein, which exceeds the amount of protein found in meats, eggs, milk and wheat.
  • Soya protein contains all the amino acids needed by the body, and is an excellent replacement for meat-based proteins. Soya Chunks can be beneficial to the growth of strong bones and teeth in children.
  • Soya protein in general is rich in B vitamins, iron, calcium and Omega-3 fatty acids.



Letโ€™s start with Ingredients and follows Procedure


  • Soya Chunks – 100 gms
  • Butter – 4 Tb sp
  • All purpose flour – 1 Tb sp
  • Corn flour – 3 Tb sp
  • Ginger-Garlic Paste – 1 tsp
  • Onion – 1 small – sliced
  • Yellow bell pepper/ Capsicum – 1 cup – slices
  • Cabbage – shredded – 1 cup
  • Red chilly sauce – 1/2 Tb sp
  • Tomato sauce – 1 Tb sp
  • Chilli vinegar – 1 Tb sp
  • Soya sauce – 1/2 Tb sp
  • Salt – 1 1/2 tsp
  • Red chilly powder – 1 tsp
  • Garam Masala Powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Red Paprika – 1 tsp ( optional )
  • Spring onion greens – 2 Tb sp
  • Coriander leaves – 2 Tb sp
  • Lemon juice – 2 Tb sp


Cooking & Frying Process of Soya Chunks:

  • In a sauce pan add 1/2 liter water and 1/2 tsp salt
  • Let it boil over medium heat
  • Add Soya Chunks When water started boiling
  • Cook 5 mins and turn off heat
  • Squeeze water & keep aside
  • Add them in a bowl along with salt, 1/2 tsp red chilly powder, Garam masala powder, ginger garlic paste, 2 Tb sp corn flour & 1 Tb sp all purpose flour
  • Mix well ( if required add 1 spoon of water )
  • Heat a skillet pan over medium heat
  • Add 3 Tb sp butter and stir fry for 5 mins
  • Turn off heat & take out them on paper towel
  • Keep them aside


Corn flour paste:

  • In a small bowl add corn flour & 80 ml water (1/3 cup water)
  • Mix well by using spoon with out any lumps
  • Next add 1/2 tsp salt , mix well & keep aside

Process of Soya Chunks Manchurian :

  • Heat another pan add 1 Tb sp butter
  • Add chopped garlic cloves, onion, Capsicum, cabbage & Saute 2 minutes
  • Then Add Red chilly sauce, soya sauce, green chilly sauce, vinegar & tomato ketchup
  • Mix well & cook 2 mins
  • Next add corn flour paste ( once mix well before adding in pan) , 1/2 tsp red chilly powder & red Paprika
  • Saute & cook more 5 mins
  • Next add fried Soya Chunks, Mix well or toss over medium heat for 2 minutes
  • Turn off heat and garnish with chopped coriander leaves and spring onions
  • Mix well & serve hot
  • Soya Chunks Manchurian is ready to serve. While serving Sprinkle with lemon juice

  • You use oil instead of butter
  • You can also deep fry Soya Chunks instead of stir fry
  • Use any color of Capsicum
