Dondakaya Pachadi | Ivy Gourd Chutney | Side Dish

Side Dish: Dondakaya PachadiΒ

Chutney’s are so authentic and common side dish in every South Indian lunch meal, it is combined with vegetable & lots of spices finally ends with fresh tempering on it.. aww what a taste it’s amazing one has to try to know the taste of South Indian Chutney πŸ™‚

Today, I’m sharing dondakaya pachadi with lemon twist.. I hope you like it

Let Start with Ingredients and follows Procedure

Ingredients:

  • Ivy gourd/ Dondakayalu – 1/2 kg – chopped
  • Green chillies – 3
  • Kashmiri dried red chillies – 3
  • Curry leaves – 10-12
  • Garlic cloves – peeled off – chopped
  • Salt – 1/2 tb sp
  • Dry roasted Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Dry roasted Fenugreek seeds/ Methi seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Lemon juice – 1 tb sp or 1/2 lemon
  • Oil – 2 tb sp

For tempering:

  • Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves – 6
  • Hing/ Asafoetida – 1/4 tsp
  • Kashmiri dry Red chilly – 1
  • Oil – 2 tb sp

Procedure:

  • Heat skillet pan over medium heat
  • Add oil, green chillies, dry Red chillies, curry leaves and garlic cloves
  • Saute a minute and add chopped ivy gourd / dondakayalu
  • Saute 10 mins and turn off heat
  • Transfer to a plate & let it become cool
  • Next take mixer grinder add sauted ivy gourd along with dry roasted mustard seeds, Fenugreek seeds, salt, add little water
  • Blend coarsely and Keep aside
  • Heat skillet pan on low to medium heat
  • Add oil , mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves and hing
  • Saute & add grounded ivy gourd mixture
  • Mix well, Cook 10 -15 mins & stir occasionally
  • Turn off heat when the consistency becomes thick and aromatic
  • Finally add lemon juice, mix well & serve with piping hot rice 🍚 and a dollop of ghee /Β Curd Rice 🍚

Note:

  • Adjust spices according to taste
  • You can add tamarind pulp instead of lemon juice
