Basic Cooking, Today I’m sharing a basic & common side dish for South Indian Breakfast Recipes. It is the best combo ever, quick to make and healthy too. It suits with a list of breakfast recipes as shown below , I hope they’re helpful to you πŸ™‚

The list goes on, so learn this basic chutney and enjoy with multiple Breakfast recipes 😊

Let’s start with Ingredients and follows Procedure

Ingredients:

  • Fresh Coconut – Shredded – 180 gms
  • Split Roasted chickpeas/ pappulu – 60 gms
  • Green chillies – 2
  • Salt – as per taste – I added 1 tsp
  • Oil – 2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
  • Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Urad Dal / skinless black gram – 1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves – 6

Procedure:

  • Add split roasted chickpeas , shredded coconut , salt, green chillies in mixer
  • And also add 100 ml water, to blend into smooth paste
  • Blend well & take out in a bowl
  • Next tempering, Heat pan over medium heat
  • Add oil, mustard seeds and cumin seeds
  • Let them splutter and then add urad dal, finally curry leaves
  • Saute & turn off heat
  • Transfer tempering in coconut mixture
  • Mix well and serve with any South Indian breakfast.. it tastes awesome

Note:

  • Adjust spices according to taste
  • If you prefer sour/ tangy taste in chutney, I suggest you to add 1/2 tb sp lemon juice or as per your preference

  1. While tempering done,my kids will guess the chutney. I use to add grated ginger while tempering and dry curry leaves powder. Nice share ramya.

  5. My all time fav chutney for South Indian breakfasts. Sometimes I add coconut water for the consistency instead of water. It gives mild sweet taste to the chutney. Thanks for sharing !!
