Chaat Recipe: Dahi Puri ๐Ÿ˜‹

Dahi puri is a common street food in India and originated from Mumbai, Maharashtra State. Dahi puri combined all flavours together in each puri topped with Dahi, nylon sev and mixed Masala Powder. One of the popular street food recipe is Dahi puri in India ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ

Cooking time: 30 mins

Serving Time: 5-10 minsย 

Let’s start with Ingredients and follows Procedure


  • Puri’s – as required
  • Boiled potatoes – 4 – peeled and mashed
  • Dahi / Curd – 120 ml
  • Green Chutney ย – 1 cup
  • Sweet chutney ย – 1 cup
  • Salt – 1 tsp
  • Red chilly powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Chaat Masala Powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Onion – finely chopped – 1/2 cup
  • Tomato – finely chopped – 1/2 cup
  • Cilantro – 1/4 cup
  • Nylon sev – 1 cup – to garnish
  • Powdered Sugar – 1/4 cup



Dahi/ Beaten curd:

  • Beat dahi/ curd by adding 80 ml water
  • Add sugar and 1/2 tsp salt in it
  • Mix well and keep aside

Mixed Masala powder:

  • In a cup, add 1/2 tsp salt, chaat masala powder and red chilly powder
  • Mix well with spoon
  • Keep aside and will use to sprinkle on chaat

Process of making Dahi Puri:

  • Arrange puri’s in a serving plate
  • Make a hole at center of each puri & fill with boiled potato, onion & tomatoes (as shown in picture )
  • Next add fill the puri’s with green chutney and sweet chutney as shown in picture
  • Then fill with dahi / beaten curd on each puri topped with nylon sev and cilantro
  • Add more green chutney, sweet chutney and dahi , finally Sprinkle mixed Masala Powder
  • Serve immediately

  • Adjust spices & salt according to taste
  • If you like lemon juice on chaat, yes you can sprinkle few drops
  • I used Store bought puri’s and nylon sev
