Breakfast recipe: Lachha Paratha

Lachha Paratha is a multi layered wheat flour flat bread in India ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณย It is one of the most popular dish (Paratha) in Dabba ( it means a small restaurant on highways or outskirts of the town)

Today, I prepared lachha Paratha in two ways with whole wheat flour, they are so soft, crispy outside and scrumptious dish either at breakfast or dinner. Both ways are easy to make all you need to be patience while making โ˜บ๏ธ

Let’s start with Ingredients and follows Procedure

Ingredients:

To make dough:

  • Wheat Flour – 350 gms
  • Salt – 1 tsp
  • Oil – 2 tb sp
  • Water – as needed to make dough
  • Wheat Flour – 5 tb sp – for dusting
  • Check how to make dough
  • Oil – 3 tb sp ย – to cook Paratha and while making them

Procedure:

  • When dough is ready, rest it 15-20 mins
  • Divide the dough into 5 equal parts
  • Apply oil on each portion of dough
  • Apply oil on rolling pin
  • Take one part of dough and roll it as much as you can
  • Apply oil on it and dust wheat flour

Method 1:

  • Now, start pleating and repeat the process till end
  • Strech and roll it to formย round shaped dough as shown in picture
  • Apply oil and rest 15 mins
  • Take it on work surface / wooden Chapathi chakla
  • Place it and roll it upwards and downwards direction.. continue the process till it forms round shaped ..( don’t flip & roll )
  • Heat tawa apply oil .. put rolled Paratha on it
  • When bubbles started, flip it Apply oil
  • It starts to turn brown spots again flip and apply oil the other side
  • Cook both sides till golden brown
  • Serve hot with any Indian gravy curry ๐Ÿ˜‹

Method 2:

  • Take a sharp knife and cut thin stripes as shown in picture
  • Arrange each piece on one other and press and stretch
  • Make a round shaped dough as shown in picture
  • Apply oil and rest 15 mins
  • Take it on work surface / wooden Chapathi chakla
  • Cooking process same as above ๐Ÿ™‚

Note:

  • You can cook Paratha with clarified butter/ ghee
  • I made lachha Paratha with wheat flour, you can replace it with all purpose flour and process is same as above

  4. wow layers have come out so perfect ramya. I cook the same way but always miss the perfect layered parathas.This looks awesome and the best is its done with whole wheat flour. May be will try your second method.
