Today, I’m little bit lazy and would like to taste delicious gravy curry with my freshly prepared Chapathi’s/ Roti. There are many curries flashed in my mind but one from them which makes my day yummy ☺️ which is Black eyed beans curry.

This curry is so easy, relishing and anyone can make it. It’s one of my favorite curry and everybody enjoyed it in my home, I hope you like it πŸ˜‹. When you’re ready with cooked beans it will take approximately 20 mins to finish. It is so creamy texture, chunky beans and good aroma of fresh cream and spices.

Recipes with Black Eyed Beans:

I don’t like to waste your precious time let’s start with Ingredients and follows Procedure

Ingredients:

  • Black eyed beans – 160 gms
  • Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves – 6
  • Green chillies – 2 – sliced
  • Oil – 3 tb sp
  • Onion – 1 – small – finely chopped
  • Tomatoes πŸ…Β – 2 – finely chopped
  • Dry roasted peanuts – 80 gms
  • Sesame seeds – white – 1 tb sp
  • Fresh cream – 1/4 cup – 60 ml
  • Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Red chilly powder – 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder – 1 tb sp
  • Salt – 1 tsp
  • Coriander – chopped- 1/4 cup

Procedure:

Pre-Preparation:

  • Wash black eyed beans twice under fresh water
  • Next add black eyes beans in large bowl and add 400ml water
  • Soak 6 hours
  • Next add them into pressure cooker, 1/2 tsp salt and cook for one whistle
  • Turnoff heat & let pressure goes off
  • Open lid and strain water
  • Preserve water

Masala powder :

  • Add ground nuts, sesame seeds, red chilly powder, coriander powder , salt & turmeric powder in mixer / coffee blender
  • Blend till smooth powder
  • Keep it aside

Process of making Black eyed beans curry:

  • Heat skillet pan over medium heat
  • Add oil, cumin seeds, curry leaves and green chillies
  • Let them splutter, next add chopped onion
  • Saute 2 mins and add chopped tomatoes
  • Saute 2 mins & add grounded powder
  • Mix well and add preserved water
  • Cover with lid and cook 5 mins
  • Mix well & add cooked beans
  • Mix well & add fresh cream
  • Stir and cover with lid again cook 5 mins in low to medium heat
  • Turn off heat and add chopped coriander leaves
  • Mix well & serve with rice / Roti / Chapathi/ phulka

Note:

  • Adjust spices according to taste
  • I haven’t added tamarind extract, if you would like more tangy in curry you can add it and make sure to reduce tomato quantity
  • Cook black eyed beans for one whistle in pressure cooker, if you cook for more whistles beans become so soft and mushy
  • I used cooked water in curry if you doesn’t like you can skip this step and fresh water
