Rajma Pulao πŸ˜‹ || Red Kidney Beans Pulao || Special Rice || Festive Season

Pulao is a main dish usually prepared with rice and contains spices, vegetables, onion depending on cuisine.It can be prepared either with normal rice or basmati rice.

I cooked pulao with Basmati Rice you can also cook with normal rice which is crystal sona masoori rice brand or the other. In this Pulao main ingredient is Red kidney beans Β has high protein and fiber and good for health to make pulao more tasty I added roasted cashew nuts with spices gives you great flavour and good aroma πŸƒ

Mainly, Pulao is mild spicy in taste & very delicious dish in India which can have either in lunch/ dinner and you can make this Pulao in less time… it is a quick lunch box pack or make on festivals

Today I prepared Rajma Pulao/ Red kidney beans Pulao it turned out with relish, spiciness and ended with lovely color 😍

Let’s start with Ingredients and follows Procedure

Ingredients:

  • Basmati Rice – 240 gms
  • Rajma – 80 gms ( cooked )
  • Ghee – 1 tb sp
  • Cloves – 2
  • Cinnamon stick – small piece
  • Cardamom – 2
  • Bay leaf – 1
  • Cumin seeds – 1/2 tb sp
  • Green chillies – 3 – sliced
  • Cashew nuts – roasted – 10-12
  • Ginger – garlic paste – 1/2 tb sp
  • Red Onion – 1 – medium sized – sliced
  • Tomatoes – 2 – medium – finely chopped
  • Mint leaves – 10-12 – chopped
  • Coriander / cilantro leaves – 1/2 cup – chopped
  • Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Salt – 3/4 tb sp
  • Red chilly powder – 1/2 tb sp
  • Coriander powder – 1 tb sp
  • Cumin powder – 1/2 tb sp
  • Garam Masala Powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Kasuri methi powder/ dried fenugreek leaves – 1 tsp
  • Water – 380 ml

Procedure:

Prepreparation: How to cook perfect Rajma/ Ted kidney beans?

  • Take 80 gms of raw rajma in a bowl
  • Add 200 ml water in it
  • Soak 10-12 hours
  • Cook them in pressure cooker with same water and add 1 tsp salt
  • Cook Rajma/ Red kidney Beans for 2 whistles (Because again they will cook along with rice so don’t over cook )
  • Let the pressure get off
  • Open lid & take out Rajma/ Red kidney beans separately in a bowl
  • You can use cooked rajma water in making Rasam or add while making Rajma Pulao (it’s optional)
  • Rajma cooked well..Keep aside

Making masala for Rajma Pulao:

  • Heat skillet pan over medium heat
  • Add ghee, cumin seeds, cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, bay leaf, green chillies
  • Saute 30 secs & add roasted cashew nuts, ginger-garlic Paste & sliced Onion
  • Saute a min & add chopped tomatoes
  • Mix well & cook 30 secs
  • Add mint leaves and coriander leaves.. Mix well
  • Next add salt, turmeric powder, red chilly powder, Garam Masala Powder, Β cumin powder, coriander powder
  • Mix well and cook 1 min
  • Turn off heat

Cooking Pulao in Electric rice cooker:

  • Add washed basmati rice in cooking bowl
  • Add cooked Rajma and prepared Masala
  • Next add water & mix gently without breaking rice
  • Finally add dried fenugreek powder and mix well
  • Next cook rice
  • Rice cooked well… Rajma Pulao is ready to serve
  • Serve it with cucumber Raita/ onion Raita as I shared in my previous posts links shared below..

Note:

  • Adjust spices according to taste
  • If you’re preparing for kids reduce chillies and red chilly powder or add either one of them
  • Rajma Pulao can also cook in pressure cooker.. for 2 whistles
  • I reduced water quantity because I added 2 tomatoes Β  has lots of moist.. if you prefer more water to your Pulao you can add water as you like but make sure while adding extra water to Pulao..
  • My suggestion..Cucumber Raita is best combination you can check link below
