Tomato ๐Ÿ… Chutney’s – 3 Ways | Side Dish | Breakfast

Side Dish: Breakfast: South India ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณย 

In Indian breakfast recipes there must be a tasty side dish which varies from one breakfast to another, some of the side dishes suits to more than 3 breakfast recipes. For example coconut chutney goes well with plain Dosa, onion uttapam, Idly , Poori etc.,

Like wise, mostly South Indian breakfast dishes should serve with any flavoured side dish. So today I would like to share three different chutney’s they are ย simple to make and perfect combination for any South Indian breakfast recipes.

Today I prepared three tomato chutney ๐Ÿ… with other spices . Let’s start with Ingredients and follows Procedure

Duration : 30 mins

Prepreparation: ( Basic step to all Chutney’s )

Step 1:

  • ย Heat pan add chopped tomatoes ๐Ÿ…ย and cook 4 – 5 minutes
  • Keep it aside

Step 2: ( Common for all Chutney’s )

For Tempering:
Mustard seeds/ Avvalu – 1 tea spoon
Cumin seeds/ Jeera – 1 tea spoon
Curry leaves – 6
Oil – 1 tb sp

  • Heat a tempering pan over medium heat
  • Add oil
  • Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds
  • Let them splutter
  • Next add curry leaves ๐Ÿƒ
  • Saute & turn off heat
  • Keep it aside

Tomato Peanuts ๐Ÿฅœย Chutney:

Ingredients:

  • Tomatoes – 1 – medium – diced
  • Roasted Peanuts – 1/3 cup – 80gms
  • Green chillies – 3 – chopped
  • Salt – 1 tsp

Procedure:

Garlic Tomato ๐Ÿ…Chutney:

Ingredients:

  • Tomatoes – 2 – medium – diced
  • Garlic cloves – 4 – medium – peeled off & chopped
  • Red chilly powder – 1/2 tb sp
  • Salt – 1 tsp
  • Tamarind extract – 1/2 inch piece
  • Jaggery Powder – 1/2 tb sp

Procedure:

  • Heat pan add tomatoes, garlic, red chilly powder,tamarind extract, salt and cook 5 mins
  • Keep it aside
  • Let them become cool
  • Add cooked tomatoes with garlic and other spices in mixer grinder
  • Blend till smooth paste
  • If required Add little water to make smooth paste
  • Take out chutney in a bowl
  • Add prepared tempering on chutney
  • Serve it with any breakfast ( Breakfast links mentioned above )

Onion Tomato ๐Ÿ…ย Chutney:

Ingredients:

  • Tomato – 1 – medium – diced
  • Onion – 1 – small – diced
  • Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Urad Dal – 1 tsp
  • Bengal gram – 1 tsp
  • Fenugreek seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Oil – 1/2 tb sp
  • Salt – 1 tsp
  • Green chillies – 3 – chopped

Procedure:

  • Heat pan over medium heat
  • Add oil, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, Urad Dal, Bengal gram, fenugreek seeds, curry leaves, green chillies
  • Let them splutter
  • Add onions and chopped tomatoes
  • Cook 5 mins
  • Keep it aside
  • Let them become cool
  • Add cooked tomatoes and onion with ingredients in mixer grinder
  • Blend till smooth paste
  • If required Add little water to make smooth paste
  • Take out chutney in a bowl
  • Add prepared tempering on chutney
  • Serve it with any breakfast ( Breakfast recipes link mentioned above )

Note:

  • Adjust Spices and salt according to taste
  • Double the ingredients to increase quantity
  • Contains peanuts & garlic
  • In tomato peanuts Chutney I used whole peanuts with skin. If you doesn’t like you can remove skin on peanuts and then add in blender
  • These chutney’s can preserve in refrigerator for 3 days
  • If you are storing in refrigerator, store chutney in an airtight container
