Sweet Recipe: Healthy Laddu : South India ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ

Laddu is a round shaped sweet recipe in India, they are served either in festive seasons/ occassions. Most of the special laddu’s prepared with flour, sugar and combined with other ingredients next deep fried in oil and adds in sugar syrup.

There are many sweet recipes originated from India like Boondi Laddu, Malai Laddu, Motichoor Laddu, Rava Laddu, Besan Laddu etc., types of Laddu varies from one state to another.

Now a days, Kids lacking of healthy food so I prepared peanuts laddu and dry fruit Laddu which are rich in iron and calcium. They are simple to make and healthy Laddu(s) to taste which are loved by specially children/ kids.

These laddu’s are traditional in South India I have seen my grand mother used to prepare when we were kids, usually on every vacation we visited grand mother’s home. Those days are lovely and cherished moments forever in my life โ˜บ๏ธ

While packing lunch box to your kids, instead of chocolates or potato chips sometimes change their snack recipes by serving healthy laddu’s either peanuts Laddu or dry fruit Laddu. It’s best to explain them how is it useful to their health.

You can checkout nutrition facts down below so it’s easy to refer and inform to kids.ย It can be served in lunch time meal or at evening snack for kids.

Today I prepared two sweet recipes but they are not made by sugar or flour. They are one Laddu prepared by peanuts and the other Laddu by dry fruits.

Let’s start with ingredients and follows Procedure

Peanut Laddu:

Servings: 12 laddu’s

Duration: 10-12 mins

Ingredients:

  • Dry Roasted peanuts – 240 gms
  • Jaggery – 240 gms

Procedure:

  • Blend ground nuts and jaggery into smooth powder separately
  • Mix well on a plate
  • Make laddu’s
  • Store in an airtight container
  • Preserve upto 2 weeks

Nutrition facts:

Roasted peanuts: Vitamins B6 and also iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium, fiber & protein

Jaggery: It contains iron, calcium, sodium & protein

Peanut Laddu ๐Ÿ˜‹

Dry Fruit Laddu:

Servings: 8 Laddu’s

Duration: 10 mins

Ingredients:

  • Dates – seedless – 12
  • Cashew nuts – 60 gms
  • Almonds – 60 gms
  • Pistachios – 60 gms
  • Poppy seeds – 1/2 tb sp
  • Ghee – 1/2 tb sp

Procedure:

  • Chop nuts & dates
  • Heat pan add ghee and roast chopped nuts
  • Roast 2 mins on medium heat
  • Next add ghee and roast poppy seeds for 1 min
  • Take out them on a plate
  • And also add chopped dates
  • Mix well & make ball
  • Divide into small parts and make laddu’s
  • Store in an airtight container
  • Preserve upto 2 weeks
  • Enjoy cooking, have a nice day

Nutrition facts:

Dates/ date Fruit : Vitamins C & B6 and also iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium, fiber & protein

Dry fruits:

Cashew nuts: Vitamins B6 and also iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium, fiber & protein

Almonds: Vitamins and also iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium, fiber & protein

Pistachios: Vitamins A,C & B6 and also iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium, fiber & protein

Poppy seeds: It contains iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium, fiber & protein

Note:

  • Double the quantity to make more Laddu(s)
  • Contains peanuts
  • Instead of peanuts you can also use sesame seeds
  • Adjust sweetness according to taste
