Palak Paratha/ Spinach Paratha || Indian Bread || Breakfast/ Dinner

Breakfast Recipe: Spinach/ Palak Paratha: Indian Breadย

Paratha is a flatbread originated from North India ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณย it is a special breakfast for Indians such as Punjabiโ€™s in Punjab and also in Gujarat simply I can say it’s completely North Indian dish.

Now a days itโ€™s popular all over India and also serving in Indian restaurants.ย There are many types of Parathaโ€™s which can be prepared with Wheat flour/ Atta/ Maida/ all purpose flour and veggies for stuffing.

It can be also prepared with leafy vegetables such as Fenugreek leaves, spinach etc., and also combination of palak paneer, aloo paneer Paratha like this wise you can make so many varieties of paratha’s.

Mostly it is prepared at breakfast time, you should have paratha’s when they are hot because it tastes delicious ๐Ÿ˜‹

Mainly, itโ€™s cooked with ghee/ butter/ cooking oil and serve with Raita/ curd and any kind of pickle (Indian pickles)

  • Minerals: Sodium, iron, potassium, magnesium

Health Benefits of spinach:

  • High in zinc
  • Low fat & cholesterol
  • Acts as antioxidants
  • High fiber
  • Good for cardiovascular, brain & lowers blood pressure
  • To retain high iron from spinach, add lemon juice/ vinegar in preparation.

Today I prepared leafy vegetable Paratha that is spinach Paratha or palak Paratha an authentic & delicious recipe which contains high amount of spinach, spices & wheat flour ๐Ÿ˜€

Let’s start with Ingredients and follows Procedure


Spinach – Finely chopped – 150 gms

Wheat Flour – 300 gms

Ginger- Garlic paste – 1 tsp

Red chilly powder – 1 tsp

Cumin / Jeera Powder – 1 tsp

Ajwain / Carom seeds – 1/2 tsp

Salt – 1 tsp

Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp

Ghee – 2 tb sp

Green chillies – 2 – chopped


  • In medium sized bowl add chopped spinach, salt, red chilly powder, cumin/ Jeera powder, ย ginger- garlic paste, chopped green chillies, Ajwain, 1 tsp ghee, turmeric powder
  • Mix well
  • Add wheat flour and mix well
  • Add water little by little in wheat flour ๐ŸŒพ
  • Make perfect non-sticky dough donโ€™t add so much of water because already moisture present in spinach leaves
  • Rest the dough for 5 to 10 mins
  • Heat tava on medium to high
  • Take some amount of wheat flour to dust
  • Divide the dough into equal parts
  • Take one ball , dust with wheat flour and roll the dough upwards and downwards with rolling pin.
  • Make Parathas in circle shape and thicker than chapathi/ Rotiโ€™s as shown in picture
  • Take Paratha in hand and put on hot tava
  • Flip the Paratha when started bubbles on it
  • You can see brown dots and apply ghee on it
  • Again flip to other side apply ghee
  • Cook both sides nicely
  • Serve Spinach Paratha hot with Raita/Curd and mango pickle
  • Itโ€™s yummy ๐Ÿ˜‹ have it either Breakfast/ Dinner time

Palak Paratha ๐Ÿ˜‹


  • Instead Of ghee you can easily replace it with Butter/ Oil but with ghee it tastes more delicious
  • If you doesn’t like big paratha’s, You could make small paratha’s as well
  • Another way to prepare palak Paratha You can also blanch spinach & add puree to wheat flour, it also works but you must reduce water.
  • Adjust spices according to taste
