Delicious Pulao : Spinach Peas Pulao

Pulao is a main dish usually prepared with rice and contains spices, vegetables, onion depending on cuisine.It can be prepared either with normal rice or basmati rice.
I cooked pulao with normal rice which is crystal sona masoori rice brand. In this Pulao main ingredient is spinach which is an annual plant.
Mainly, Pulao is mild spicy in taste & very tasty dish in India which can have either in lunch/ dinner and you can make thus Pulao in less time.

Minerals: Sodium, iron, potassium, magnesium
Health Benefits of spinach:
- High in zinc
- Low fat & cholesterolĀ
- Acts as antioxidantsĀ
- High fiberĀ
- Good for cardiovascular, brain & lowers blood pressureĀ
- To retain high iron from spinach, add lemon juice/ vinegar in preparation.
Today I prepared Spinach peas Pulao which is easy and delicious too. You can prepare in morning time & pack for lunch / for kids.
Pre-Preparation:
How to make spinach paste?
Blanch spinach:
- Boil water for 10 mins over medium heat
- Wash & add spinach in water
- Leave them 30 secs in hot water
- Drain water
- Takeout the spinach in a bowl
- Let it become cool for 10 mins
- Add in mixer grinder/ juicer
- Blend smooth paste by adding 1/4 cup of water
- Take out spinach paste in a bowl
How to cook white rice?
- Today in my recipe I used crystal Sona Masoori Rice brand
- Wash twice & drain water
- Measurements for cooking rice in Pressure cooker is 1 cup = 2 1/2 cups water
- Measurements for cooking rice in Electric Rice cooker is 1 cup = 3 cups water
- I cooked rice in electric rice cooker
- Rice cooked well, Let it become cool
Raita:
- 1/2 cup= 120 ml curd, finely chopped onion – 1/4 cup, fine pepper powder and salt to taste
- Mix all together with spoon in a bowl
- Raita is ready
Let’s start with ingredients and follows Procedure
Ingredients:
Cooked Rice – 1 cup – 235 gms
Spinach – 200 gms
Peas – 120 gms ( frozen )
Onion – 1 medium – sliced
Green chillies – Ā small – 6
Cloves – 2
Cinnamon – 1/2 inch
Bay leaf – 1
Coriander leaves – 1/4 cup – 60 gms
Mint leaves – 60 gms
Salt – 1 tsp
Ghee – 1 tb sp
Procedure:
- Heat Skillet pan over medium heat
- Add 1 tb sp ghee
- Add cloves, cinnamon, bay leaf, green chillies
- Saute and add sliced onion
- Saute 2 mins
- Add peas, chopped coriander & mint leaves
- Saute 1 min
- Add prepared spinach paste
- Saute & cook 10 mins till consistency becomes thick
- Add salt & mix well
- Turn off Burner/ cooktop
- Add cooked rice & Saute gently
- Spinach Peas Pulao is ready š
