Pappu Billalu are crispy & crunchy tea time / Evening snack. This recipe made out of rice flour is the main ingredient, spices, cumin & sesame seeds, coarse powder of peanuts & roasted chickpea powder and coriander & curry leaves.

Anyone who tastes rice flour crackers will definitely like it. Store them in an airtight container and also it tastes good till 20 to 25 days.

This is one my favorite Evening snack I like to have it anytime in a day. Kids and family members will surely love this crackers.

Nutrition facts :

Rice Flour:

Vitamin : B6

Minerals : calcium, iron , potassium & magnesium

Cumin seeds:

Vitamin : A

Minerals : calcium, iron , potassium & magnesium

Sesame seeds:

Vitamin : B6

Minerals : calcium, iron , potassium & magnesium

Peanuts :

Vitamin : B6

Minerals : calcium, iron , potassium & magnesium

Curry leaves:

Vitamin : A, B, C, E

Minerals : calcium, iron , phosphorus, copper & magnesium

Coriander leaves:

Vitamins: A & C

Today, I prepared rice flour crackers/ Pappu Billalu which are crispy and good taste.

Let’s start with ingredients and follows Procedure

Ingredients:

1 cup Β = 160 gmsΒ 

Rice flour – 4 cups – 640 gms

Peanuts – 120 gms

Roasted chickpeas – 60 gms

Cumin seeds – 1 tb sp

Sesame seeds – 1 tb sp

Red chilly powder – 1 & 1/2 tb sp

Salt – 3/4th tb sp

Hot oil – 2 tb sp

Curry leaves – chopped – 1/4 cup

Coriander leaves – chopped – 1/2 cup

Oil – To deep fry

Procedure:

  • Add peanuts in mixer grinder & Make coarse powder
  • Take out in a bowl
  • Add roasted chickpea in mixer grinder & Make coarse powder
  • Take out in a bowl

  • In a deep bowl add rice flour, coarse powder of peanuts and chickpea powder
  • And also add cumin seeds, sesame seeds, salt, red chilly powder, curry leaves & coriander leaves
  • Mix well with spoon
  • Add 2 tb sp hot oil & mix well
  • Make tight & non sticky dough with water
  • I used 2 cups of water and it’s enough to make perfect dough
  • Divide dough & make small lemon size balls
  • Apply oil on butter paper & keep a ball
  • Press with tortilla/ use stainless steel press
  • Heat oil over medium heat
  • Drop pressed crackers slowly in hot oil
  • Crackers will float while cooking
  • When they done slowly crackers goes down in the oil
  • It will 4 to 5 mins to cook completely both sides
  • Repeat the same process till the dough completes
  • Take out rice flour crackers on a paper towel to remove excess oil
  • Store in an airtight container
  • Kids will love these crispy rice flour crackers/ Pappu Billalu πŸ˜€

Note:

  1. Don’t fry them on high heat
  2. Fry 2-3 at a time in oil
  3. Preserve them in an airtight container to remain same taste & crispness of rice flour crackers
  4. Contains peanuts
  5. For best results, cook them in medium heat slowly & carefully

  5. This is a visual treat Ramya. So beautifully done with detailed instructions. I am a big fan of anything traditional & have a major weakness for savory snacks.
