Prasadam Pulihora/ Temple Style Pulihora/ Tamarind Rice

Ingredients:

Cooked Rice – 1 medium sized bowl

Tamarind extract – 1/2 cup

Dry Red chillies – 4 to 5

Cumin seeds/ Jeera – 1 tb sp

Sesame seeds – 2 tb sp

Pepper corn – 1/2 tb sp

Methi / Menthulu/ Fenugreek seeds – 1/2 tb sp

Dry roasted Peanuts/ Ground nuts – 4 tb sp

Bengal gram/ Senaga pappu – 2 tb sp

Urad Dal/ Menapappu – 2 tb sp

Coriander seeds/ Daniyalu – 2 tb sp

Turmeric powder – 1/2 tea spoon

Asaftodia/ Inguva – 1/8 tea spoon

Salt – as per taste

Sesame/ Mustard Oil – 2 tb sp

Coriander – 1/2 cup

Procedure:

Pulihora powder:

  • Dry roast Jeera, Urad Dal, Bengal gram, Coriander seeds, Fenugreek seeds, Peppercorn and dry Red chillies
  • When they started changing color , add sesame seeds and saute for few seconds
  • Let them cool
  • Blend smooth powder in mixer grinder
  • Heat oil in frying pan on medium heat
  • Add tempering in it
  • For Tempering:
    Mustard seeds/ Avvalu – 1/4 tea spoon
    Cumin seeds/ Jeera – 1/2 tea spoon
    Urad dal/ Minapappu – 1/4 tea spoon
    Bengal gram/ Senagapappu – 1/4 tea spoon
    Curry leaves – 4 to 5
  • Add roasted peanuts , asaftodia and turmeric powder
  • Add tamarind extract let it boil( Add 1/2 cup water)
  • Add salt and Pulihora powder and mix them well
  • Saute 2 minutes in low to medium heat
  • Mix Pulihora paste in cooked rice
  • Garnish with coriander
  • Temple style Pulihora is ready
