Potato Masala/ Aloo Masala


Potatoes πŸ₯”Β – 4

Onion chopped – 3 tb sp

Bengal gram powder/ Besan powder – 2 tb sp

Coriander chopped – 2 tb sp

Green chillies – 3

Ginger chopped – 1 tb sp

Turmeric powder – 1/2 tea spoon

Salt – 1 tea spoon

For Tempering:
Mustard seeds/ Avvalu – 1/4 tea spoon
Cumin seeds/ Jeera – 1/2 tea spoon
Urad dal/ Minapappu – 1/4 tea spoon
Bengal gram/ Senagapappu – 1/4 tea spoon
Curry leaves – 4 to 5
Oil – 1 tb sp


  • First chop potatoes into two/ four halves and boil inΒ pressure cooker for two whistles also add 1/2 tea spoon of salt and pinch of turmeric then add one cup of water in it
  • Let boiled potatoes become cool then peel off potatoes and mash them by using masher or with hands
  • Heat oil in frying pan on medium-heat
  • Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal, bengal gram and saute till splutter. Now add curry leaves
  • In mixer grinder add chillies and ginger make smooth paste
  • Now add this paste and chopped onion in pan stir it till color changes
  • Take a small bowl add Bengal gram powder/ Besan powder in it
  • Now add turmeric, salt and Mashed potatoes in pan saute for one minute
  • Next add besan liquid to it and saute for 2 to 3 minutes
  • The curry cooked well when the consistency becomes thick
  • Finally add coriander
  • Serve it in a bowl with Dosa/ Masala Dosa/ Poori
